My Yoga Journey

As a child, my Mom would drag my younger brother and me to her yoga classes above the Rio Grande Mexican Restaurant in downtown Fort Collins, Co. We were asked to sit in the corner and be quiet as she guided her students through pranayama and asana. It was in those hours of observing her classes that I first tuned into the unseen world of energy. I felt and saw things that I couldn’t explain. The awe of those otherworldly occurrences planted a seed deep within me and I knew from a young age that I would have my own personal journey with yoga and the magic it invokes.
Fast forward to 2005 where I began dabbling with yoga at the gym and at home with DVDs. In March of 2013, my dear friend took me to my first heated Yoga class at CorePower Yoga. This was a big “Aha moment” in my life as I found this class bridged my desire for challenging physical exercise with my spirituality. This fateful day marked the beginning of my devoted daily yoga practice- I was home!!! On a physical level, I quickly saw results I had never experienced before in my many hours in the gym and group fitness classes. However, the draw became much deeper than physical results as I found Yoga positively transforming all areas of my life. Exercise was no longer just about the body but about the whole being- the body, mind and spirit connection! Yoga and eventually meditation became my road map to a rich spiritual connection.
On a quest to strengthen my own practice, with the intention that one must learn to teach a subject to truly know it, I began to participate in CorePower Yoga teacher training courses. I received my Yoga Sculpt (Yoga with weights) and Sculpt Extensions Program certificates in 2014. I received my 200-hour Yoga Alliance certification in 2015, followed by additional training in the Extensions Program in early 2016.
Witnessing the inspiring growth in those around me during teacher training solidified in me that I wanted to share the transformational magic of Yoga with others. My teaching journey officially began on 2/22/16! Using my intuitive skills and knowledge as a certified Reiki Master, I am able to tune into the subtle chakra energies in my student’s bodies to offer dynamic instruction, poses and adjustments. My hope for my students is that they leave my classes feeling centered and empowered!
